About this website

This website is operated and managed by the Shinjuku Nishiguchi Shopping District Promotion Association.
Research carried out by us reveals that young people, or people with no connection to Shinjuku say that they would like to stop by Omoide Yokocho, an area of Shinjuku that is as famous as the Golden Gai in Kabuki-cho, but cannot quite bring themselves to come here.
The reasons they give include:

• What’s there?
• What does it cost?
• How much money would I need?
• What are the opening hours?
• Do the shops have special rules?

Learning of this, we made the decision to make this information available to all (not that it was ever actually hidden).
The most readily accessible method was to set up a website.

It is thanks to the grants we received from Shinjuku City and other bodies, and donations received from commercial enterprises when setting up the website that we were able to put together such a substantial website as this.
We aim to continue to act as the eyes and ears of all those interested, by making information available and operating the website.
